Firewave

Firewave is the West Coast counterpart to Bluewave's East Coast approach — a focused, single-engine synth built around wavefolding rather than filtering. A simple waveform is progressively folded back on itself, generating rich, dynamic harmonic content that responds expressively to level and modulation, in the lineage of classic Buchla-style instruments. It runs on the same signal chain, modulation matrix, and effects engine as the rest of the Music Sound Software suite.

What's Inside

A dedicated wavefolding instrument, built for expressive West Coast-style sound design.

Wavefolding Oscillator Engine

A simple waveform is progressively folded back on itself to generate rich harmonic content — a West Coast alternative to subtractive filtering, for dynamic, harmonically complex timbres.

Fold Mode

Selects the folding algorithm and character, from subtle harmonic enhancement to aggressive, complex textures.

Fold Amount

Controls the intensity and depth of the wavefolding, and with it the harmonic complexity of the resulting tone.

Fold Source

Selects what's driving the fold — the oscillator itself, or an external or modulation source — for dynamic, responsive folding.

Phase Control

Direct phase control over the waveform being folded, for further shaping of the harmonic result.

Wavefolding Visualiser

A dedicated real-time visualiser shows the waveform as it's being folded, so you can see the harmonic transformation as you turn the knobs.

Full Modulation Matrix

The same modulation routing engine used across the Music Sound Software suite — LFOs, envelopes, and other sources routed to synthesis and effects parameters.

Shared Effects Chain

Chorus, delay, EQ, compressor, limiter, phaser, and reverb — the same effects architecture found across the suite.

32 Factory Presets

Designed to showcase the range of the wavefolding engine, from subtle harmonic enhancement to aggressive, complex textures.

Warm, Fire-Toned Theme

A dedicated colour palette — Blaze, Amber, Cinder, Copper, and Gold — distinct from Bluewave's cooler blues, reflecting the warmth and intensity of wavefolded tones.

Built on a Proven Architecture

Firewave shares its preset system, modulation matrix, effects chain, and UI framework with the rest of the Music Sound Software suite.

Scalable UI

A resizable interface that fits your screen and workflow, however you like to work.

🖥 Platform Availability

Firewave is available now for macOS as VST3, AU, and Standalone. A Windows version is coming soon. Firewave is not currently compatible with iOS, Android, Linux, or ChromeOS.
